Software Engineer

Durham, NC

HemoSonics, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer who will contribute to the evolution of a novel point of care, in-vitro medical diagnostic device.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement product enhancements as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Write, audit, and improve test coverage.
  • Contribute to technical and user documentation.
  • Apply standard principles, theories and concepts of software design and development.
  • Participate in scientific/engineering meetings and present technical findings.
  • Stay abreast of technical knowledge in the field.
  • May participate in internal project meetings as appropriate for background.
  • Support software and system verification and validation testing activities.
  • Manage relationships with third party software vendors.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 0 years with PhD or MS in computer science, engineering, or related discipline; or
  • 2 years with BS in computer science, engineering, or related discipline; or
  • 10+ years with experience in software engineering with HS diploma or education beyond HS  
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming, using C# and .NET.
  • Familiarity with software change tracking processes.
  • Effective analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • The ability to read, understand and conform to policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to commit to assigned tasks.
  • Desire to learn and understand diverse and complex systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows Embedded Operating system preferred.
  • Knowledge of XUnit.NET preferred.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Continuous Integration or automated build systems
  • PowerShell scripts
  • Software development in a regulated industry preferred
  • Implementation of communication protocols, adhering to industry standards
  • Software development for embedded hardware control
  • Administration of TeamCity, github projects and/or Azure virtual machines

Strongly preferred experience includes:

  • Software development for FDA-regulated medical devices
  • Software development for in-vitro diagnostic systems
