Associate Research Engineer

HemoSonics, LLC is seeking an Associate Research Engineer who will be responsible for the support of concept phase activities, including ideation, feasibility testing, and early development of new product concepts; and the support of development activities.

Key Attributes of the Successful Candidate:

  • Knowledge in at least three of the following disciplines:
    • Mechanical design
    • Electrical design (analog or digital)
    • Ultrasonics
    • Biochemistry
    • Pneumatic/Fluidic control
    • Temperature control
  • Effective analytical and quantitative skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • The ability to read, understand and conform to policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to commit to assigned tasks
  • Ability to learn and understand diverse and complex systems
  • Ability to travel for work related activities
  • Experience developing in-vitro diagnostic systems preferred
  • Knowledge of MATLAB strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions to test feasibility of new concepts, which may utilize one or more of
    the following disciplines:
    • Mechanical design
    • Electrical design (analog or digital)
    • Ultrasonics
    • Biochemistry
    • Pneumatic/fluidic control
    • Temperature control
  • Design and execute feasibility tests
  • Participate in design reviews and present technical findings
  • Apply standard principles, theories and concepts in the field and have working knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Test, analyze, and interpret data and development situations/events requiring evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Support system verification and validation testing activities when needed
  • Suggest improvements in and adaptations to methodologies, processes, products and systems related to particular projects
  • Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to problems with broad scope and complexity
  • Keep abreast of technical knowledge in the field

Education and Experience Required:

  • BS in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline
  • At least one year of general work experience
